Europe to Build the World’s Biggest Optical Telescope

When finished, the European Extremely Large Telescope will gather 12 times more light than the next biggest telescope.

It’s a 1.1 billion Euro project–a team effort by almost a dozen countries including the US. The telescope will be built in Chile, on top of the 10,000-foot Cerro Armazones mountain in the Atacama desert. Click the link below to learn more.
