Incredibly Rare Burial Site Discovered in Cambridgeshire

This is one of extremely few female skeletons discovered from this time period.

The unknown female is buried next to a sacrificial cow and adorned with a variety of beads and jewelry. Both the decorations and the cow are symbols of economic prosperity, and hint that the woman (or perhaps her family) was extremely wealthy. Burial sites containing the remains of males and their horses are fairly common, but this is the first Anglo-Saxon tomb found to contain a woman.
