Michigan enters the SAE Supermileage competition for the first time.

A team of students will design and build a super-light, one-seater vehicle with as many miles to the gallon as they can. If they can reach their goal of 3,300 MPG, not only will they squelch the previous winners, Quebec’s Universite de Sherbrooke with their 2,158 MPG vehicle, but they’ll also crush a North American mileage record.
