World’s Oldest Pearl Found in the UAE

It is less than one tenth of an inch wide and 7,500 years old.

The pearl previously thought to be the world’s oldest was only 5,000 years old. Diving for pearls is a tough and dangerous business, so the discovery suggests that pearl was an important part of Neolithic culture in the area.
